Sail Train Regatta

The Denver Sailing Association (DSA), as the organizing authority (OA), will conduct the Sail Train Regatta on Cherry Creek Reservoir, Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, CO on September 14 – 15, 2024.

The Regatta is open to all Keelboats and non-self-righting boats (Dinghies). One Design fleets with four (4) or more entries will be recognized as a class. Anticipated classes are Santana 20s, J22, PHRF, Lightning, Melges 15, Laser, and Portsmouth.

Additional classes may be established at the discretion of the Race Committee (RC). Classes may be formed into divisions for starting purposes and courses.

Regatta Registration

Fees for the Sail Train Regatta are $100 for boats greater than 17 feet in length ($90 for current DSA Members) and $80 for boats 17 feet or less in length ($70 for current DSA Members). These fees must be paid prior to September 8th, 2024. Fees and registrations received after September 8th, 2024, are subject to a $30 late fee. Junior fees (age 18 and under) are $35.00 with no late fee.

Online registration is open through the buttons below until midnight Sunday September 8th, 2024. After this, on-site registration will be available at the DSA Clubhouse during the event’s registration/check times.

Saturday Breakfast – Included with Registration

Bagels & Spread, Coffee, and Orange Juice will be available 0900 – 1100.

Saturday Dinner – $25 Per Person

Saturday, after all races are concluded for the day, it’ll be time to eat, drink, and dance! A southern soul food dinner will be served at the DSA clubhouse and tent. Then show off your killer dance moves or grooviest outfit under our dance floor’s lights and disco ball.

Dinner tickets are $25 per person and includes food and drinks.

Tickets can be purchased ahead of time through the button below till midnight Sunday September 8th, 2024. Only limited number of tickets will be available day of at the DSA clubhouse.

Accommodations

Launching Boats

All boats new to Cherry Creek Reservoir must be first inspected and decontaminated of any and all invasive species.

Cherry Creek State Park has two boat ramps available for launching. The western ramp is the one located right by the Cherry Creek Marina and Denver Sailing Association.

You can check the park’s decon and boat ramp hours on their website.

Marina Storage

You may contact the Cherry Creek Marina manager, Tim, at (970) 409-2985 to inquire about temporary storage of visiting boat at the marina.

Beach Day

Sometimes you just want to chill on a beach, lucky for us Cherry Creek State Park has sandy swim beaches along the north eastern shore of the reservoir.

Join DSA at the park’s Dixon Grove Shelter on Saturday June 15, 2024 from 11 pm to 3pm for a fun beach day social.

Bring your own drinks and food – there will be coolers of ice and charcoal available for grilling. Bring drinks and food for potluck style lunch.

Get ready to play – we’ll have a volleyball and net set up for games.

Relax on the beach – bring a chair, beach towel, or sun shelter and you can relax on the sandy beach.

Parking available at Dixon Grove Parking and Swim Beach Parking lots.

This event is open to everyone. New to the club and want to meet our community? This would be a great opportunity to say hi and learn more.
